Everyone in our culture wants to win a prize. Perhaps that is the grand lesson we have taken with us from kindergarten in the age of perversions of Dewey-style education: everyone gets a ribbon, and praise becomes a meaningless narcotic to soothe egoistic distemper.

Junk Yard Wars
NewsRemember when you were a kid? It was a time of 'great experimentations' where sticks and string and paper and glue became the tools of building 'machines' that (at least in your minds eye), would fly like a bird!

Sometime in June, 2010 (date yet to be finalized), we will be having our "Junk Yard Wars" event. The planes must be at least 50% built from things you would find in a hardware store; no pre-built kits or buildable kits. It will start out with pylon races and proceed from there. Should be a tremendous amount of fun for all!

UPDATE !! Due to conflicts with other area events, our Junk Yard Wars event has been postponed until probably sometime in October. We'll keep yu posted.
Jim Read Memorial Fly-In
NewsOn May 22, 2010, at what is traditionally our annual AMA flying event, we will be dedicating our flying field to our former president and long time friend, Jim Read. As many of you know, we lost our dear friend to cancer July 26, 2008.

In memory of Jim and other fallen members of NWRC, the club will be constructing a small memorial area with a remembrance bench, club sign and plants in front of the flag and impound area. We'll also replace the club’s sign on Katy Hockley so that we may proudly display the flying fields' new name, Jim Read Memorial Flying Field. Jim’s family will be attending this dedication.
Swapmeet To Become Annual Event
NewsThe club's first ever swapmeet in February was such a huge success, we have voted to sanction it as an annual event. It is open to the public and is a good opportunity to aquire lots of nice (some un-used), model aircraft supplies, engines, kits and other things. The events will be advertised as are all of our events.
