I'm flying a little CX2 around my house but plan to get something bigger that can withstand outdoor flight. And of course to do that I'm going to need a safe place to fly whatever I decide to buy and build.
I'm contemplating either a TRex 450 clone or GAUI Hurricane 550. Am I crazy or does this make sense? Are there very many heli pilots in the NWRCC who can guide me and help me find all my parts after I crash?
Interested in anyone's comments/advice.

Hello Mack,
I am the webmaster and never having flown helis I can't advise you there. We had a member who is no longer active, that was quite an expert in helis; I don't know if any of our current members are. I live 75 miles from the club and very very seldom get up there. The best way to find out would be to email or call one of the club officers listed in our 'club contacts' and ask them. Any one of them would be very happy to talk with you.

Thanks for your reply! In fact, Skip Ballard did reply. It turns out that the NWRCC does have a guru -- Greg Riede, who is reported to have been flying model helis for 25 years. Perhaps this is the fellow you recall.
I plan to attend the monthly club meeting tomorrow at 10am. Why don't you make the 70 mile trip out and see what's going on?
Again, thanks so much for your reply. I love the website, and I hate that nobody says anything. I see lots of views but no participation. Maybe it's time the club hitches up its getalong and starts socializing.
Warm regards,
Mack |

Actually Mack, the guru I was referring to was William Cheong who is no longer an active member.
Wish I could make the meeting but we are in the process of moving (what a chore); didn't think we'd have to move again.
I really appreciate your comment on the website; I try really hard, been doing it now for over 10 years. Used to be all hand-coded html until I discovered PHP and CMS systems (Content Management Systems)...
I have over the years tried many different things to get members interested in 'online forums' and 'socializing' but to no avail. We'll get a spurt every now and then but it's mostly people trying to sell things. If you know a secret to getting better participation in online forums then PLEASE enlighten me !
I hope that you decide to join our club; there are a lot of really enthusiastic hobbyists who love to share their knowledge and experience with others.

We moved in here 2+ years ago. I will never move again! I'm telling everbody the only way I'm leaving here is feet first out the front door.
Hope all goes well and you git 'er dun.
I went out to the club today and enjoyed meeting folks. Quentin Heinz (sp?) was there and really helped me a lot in deciding what my next step will be. He gave me more pointer than I thought I might pick up! Watched him fly his T-Rex 450 and Flybarless 500.
The weather was great, breezy with some fair gusts to keep everyone on their toes.
I look forward to meeting you.
Regards,
Mack |

Hey Norm,
It was nice meeting you Saturday. I'm glad Quinton was there, he can really wring his heli out. We have quite a few really good helicopter pilots in the club, it's not unusual to see a bunch of them at the field.
If Bill Chong knew about all the helicopters at the field, I think he could not stay away. We see Bill when he is on the Saturday work crew or when the club has a club work day.
Feel free to come out and visit us as much as you like, there is generally always someone out there each Saturday and Sunday morning. If the weather is nice, the fun will last all day.
Adios,
Skip |

r u sure youre ready to go straight from a co-X to a full performance 3D? some people say that you should probobly try out a fixed pitch plane
-esky honeybee fixed pitch V2 is a very popular heli and it will fly outdoors fine |
